Find my birds at the brand new Langham Hotel Boston!

Congratulations to the Langham Hotel for their beautiful renovation and reopening in Boston’s financial district. The hotel masterfully transforms the Federal Reserve Building into a luxury art-deco experience that you have to see to believe. The halls and rooms are are adorned with carefully curated art of all styles, reflecting the history and local flavor of Boston. How excited I was to have my work included in each and every one of their suites!

In July, I had the pleasure of staying in the room shown here while the hotel prepared to re-open for the public. They chose my birds for the rooms because they evoked the natural wildlife of the area. It felt really special to be part of this restoration, and to see them celebrate the artists in a special reception before the grand opening. I felt like I was part of history in the re-making.

The Langham worked with regional artists, many from the Copley Society of Art, to adorn the hotel with local flavor. The care they took to honor the history of the building really shows. It’s a living museum in art, photographs, design, and sculpture!

At the artists’ reception that night, artists from all over the Boston area were welcomed and appreciated for their contributions. I met such interesting people that night, got a private historical tour of the building, and learned so much. Everyone was very excited to see the building restored to such grandeur. The larger-than-life original murals of the founding fathers by N. C. Wyeth in the ballroom were meticulously preserved and are clearly a point of pride for the Langham team.

As you walk the rooms and halls, the architecture and interior design create a tapestry of interest from past to present. Every crevice of the hotel has intimate spaces with Deco detail in wood, metals, and glass that give a human scale and feel to the grandeur. Imagining the power lunches and business deals that went on in this very restaurant to build our country is humbling.

Thank you, Langham, for a memorable experience, and for treating your artists with such care and respect!
